Ni a la derecha, ni a la izquierda parecen apuntar los posibles candidatos a las elecciones del 2011. No obstante, la opción “centro” parece estar de moda. Tanto Yehude Simon, Alejandro Toledo, Pedro Pablo Kuczymski y hasta Lourdes Flores, parecen haber adotado esta opción política. Según la analista política Carmen Rosa Balbi el centro representa la alternativa para un electorado estigmatizado con la relaciones izquierda-terrorismo y derecha-ricos. Asimismo señaló que la ciudadanía no creerá en los esfuerzos Flores Nano y PPK por alzar la bandera de centro. Para el historiador Manuel Burga, el equilibro es la principal característica de la opción centro debido a la necesidad de moderación en un contexto mundial e crisis económica.
Luis Benavente, director del GOP de la Universidad de Lima, aseguró que actualmente el electorado tiene tendencias de centro, por lo qeu Toledo podría dar una sorpresa. Finalmente concluyó que en el Perú la ideología no define una elección por falta de una cultura política.
